My name is Vedant Rajan, and I am currently a student of IBDP 2. Over the past four years, I’ve been deeply involved in the debate and MUN circuit — a journey that has taught me that diplomacy isn’t just about resolutions and rules of procedure; it’s about ideas that challenge, inspire, and unite. I’ve had the privilege of chairing multiple conferences and of serving as the Secretary-General for GI’s first-ever Youth Parliament — an experience that strengthened my belief in the power of dialogue.
GIMUN VIII isn’t just another conference; it’s a space where voices converge, where disagreements lead to understanding, and where the next generation of leaders test the strength of their convictions. History has shown us — from the League of Nations’ struggles to the United Nations’ milestones — that diplomacy is not easy, but it is essential.
As Mark Twain famously said, “The difference between the right word and the almost right word is the difference between lightning and a lightning bug.” At GIMUN VIII, I hope you find those right words that spark meaningful change, drive solutions, and create connections that last beyond this conference.
On behalf of the GIMUN VIII Secretariat, I look forward to seeing your passion, intellect, and diplomacy in action. Let’s make this edition one for the history books.
